Description:

Old cabin in the Deerlodge National Forest of west Montana, #ns4

Travel the backroads of Montana and you’re likely to come upon an old cabin that may have been built over a hundred years ago during the gold and silver rush days. Other cabins were built for use as line shacks for cattle ranchers or as the beginnings of a settlement. A lot of these remote places were abandoned as times changed and people migrated to other more profitable places. Remnants of old buildings and cabins can be found where some intrepid pioneers tried to scratch out a living.
