Depending on the time of year, fog is a fairly frequent occurrence in the Siuslaw National Forest area along the coast of Oregon. The major species of trees in this region are Douglas-Fir, Sitka Spruce, Western Hemlock Red, Alder, Western Red Cedar and Big Leaf Maple. It's a temperate rain forest receiving 100 inches of rain per year in some areas yet the summers are warm and dry.
