Description:
Idaho, south east, giant backlit snow flakes falling through conifer forest in the Caribou Hills.
One of those images that looses a lot this small. A larger version can be seen at this link: http://lelandhoward.photoshelter.com/gallery-image/Idaho-South-East/G0000su7p2eVcDlE/I0000WA.0VlzBX4k/P00009FwX4sxNmk0
Giant backlit snow flakes began falling as I skied this remote canyon in the Caribou Mountains of south east Idaho. They were so think and big and falling slowly almost straight down. I kept my equipment covered as best I could with my jacket and chose a faster shutter speed to almost freeze the flakes. I felt that in this case that it would have a nicer look if I avoided the streaks inherent with a slower shutter and depth of field wasn't much of an issue with this composition.
