Born in 1961, Stephen Janko started out working for Marvins Camera, a camera and photographic shop in Lower Manhattan owned by his father. It was during the 1980s that he worked here and at the same time, learned not only the business, but about photographic technique as well.
Later, Stephen would work in the Travel Industry and more recently, the Importing Industry. All the while photographing and traveling to interesting destinations all over the globe. These include Alaska, United Kingdom, Spain, Australia, Italy and Thailand.
Favorite subjects to photograph are historic sites, birds, flowers and scenery. Flowers being perhaps the most favored because of their colors and wide variety of shapes and forms. Also, unlike birds and other animals, they dont move.
Several works are hanging in the abodes of various relations. In 2010, the first photo to be purchased was a site in Florence, Italy. It was used in a publication on the History of Architecture. This shot and many others are shared in the large international site, Flickr under the nickname, roamer.
